Adopting from a shelter or rescue foundation should always be the number one choice in bringing home a new pet to the family. Animal shelters always have the best selection of dogs and cats. Not only do they have adult pets ready for adoption, but they have kittens, puppies , and even pure breeds. Dogs and cats in shelters are waiting for someone to finally take them to the good, loving, forever home they deserve.
Donate!
Shelters need everything from food and toys, to vet check-ups and vaccinations. They also need cleaning supplies, office supplies, food and water bowls, and blankets. All of this cost money! Most of our featured shelters have wish lists of items they are in constant need of. I encourage you all to find one of our shelters to donate to.
Volunteer!
As you probably know, most shelters are run 100% by volunteers. Shelters need everyone from web guru, marketing liaison, dog walker, grounds keeper, veterinarian, volunteer coordinator, grant writer, and event planner. Everyone has a special talent, and everyone can find a way to volunteer. You might be surprised how much a few hours a month could help out a shelter. Find a shelter to volunteer at today!
